In 2004, Hugh Hefner and Archbishop Desmond Tutu famously gave a joint press conference where they promised to honestly answer every question, no matter how bizarre or personal. After the first few inquiries, which focused on the more insalubrious parts of Hugh’s life and the more technical aspects of religiously-inspired social justice movements(respectively), one reporter finally asked, “Mr. Hefner, Archbishop Tutu, who is the coolest person who has ever lived?”

Hugh Hefner raised his eyebrow. The Archbishop flashed a quick smile. The two personalities conferred together in low voices, then suddenly nodded. They turned back to the podium with a wicked gleam in their eyes. No one expected their reply:

“Groucho Marx.”

They then paused, shared a knowing look, and added, “or maybe James Tager. He’s a pretty cool guy, too.”
